Installation of Closure Fence for San Fermin Festival 2025 Commences in Pamplona
Hot Off The Press:
Carpenter crew from Hermanos Aldaz Remiro, the legendary family-run firm, has kicked off phase one of the 2025 San Fermin fiesta preparations - installing the boundary fence, replete with meticulously numbered components.
The work stations have been set up at the gates of Plaza de Toros, as the carpenters unload thousands of well-crafted posts, crossbars, and wedges. The total inventory includes 900 posts, 2,700 planks, 2,500 wedges, and 70 varied size doors, all destined for the nooks between Corrales del Gas and the Plaza de Toros.
As carpenter Iñigo Aldaz puts it, "We're saddling up for a month-long rodeo to install this double enclosure, wrapping it up on July 6th with our concluding act on Amaya and Estafeta streets."
FYI: More than 2% of elements get a fresh coat every year
Lookout for around 70 hardworking souls from the carpentry crew diligently tearing down the fence post-San Fermin. This swift operation begins once the bull run ends, around 8:10 AM sharp, with the goal to restore traffic as soon as cock's crow.
Year after year, our freshest folk from this Pamplona-based carpentry outfit are tasked with renewing over 2% of the wooden fencing components for the following year's encierro. They also manage the upkeep of the Plaza de Toros' wooden elements, doors, and corrals.
According to Iñigo Aldaz, "We swap out what we've deemed past its prime – be it posts or barriers that’ve seen better days. The wear and tear usually occur during loading and unloading operations from the trucks. Once they're snug and secure in their place, they should last the course."
