Increase in Highly Enriched Uranium Production by Iran Sparks Global Concern
In the midst of nuclear negotiations with the U.S., Iran has significantly expanded its production of highly enriched uranium, sparking international concern. According to a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Iran now possesses approximately 409 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60 percent purity. This stockpile has increased by nearly 50 percent since the last quarterly report in February. Around 42 kilograms of this enriched uranium could be further purified for use in a nuclear weapon, diplomatic sources reveal.
