The picturesque town of Burgholz played host to an exhilarating triathlon competition last weekend, as over 370 triathletes gathered for the "Bergischer Hammer" and the "Hämmerchen" events.

Organised by the Tri-Club Wuppertal, the competition was a testament to the city's thriving sports culture. The event was generously supported by Stadtsparkasse Wuppertal, AWG, the city of Wuppertal, and SV Neuenhof.

The "Bergischer Hammer" was a formidable challenge for participants, consisting of a 750-meter swim, a 28-kilometer bike ride, and a 10-kilometer run. The "Hämmerchen" was a slightly shorter but still demanding course, featuring a 500-meter swim, a 14-kilometer bike ride, and a 5-kilometer run.

Registration for the event filled up two weeks prior, reflecting the high demand for such events in the region. The first start gun went off at 10 am, with competitors diving into the cool waters of SV Neuenhof's outdoor pool for the swimming portion of the competition.

The cycling portions of both events took place on the scenic roads surrounding Burgholz, with the "Bergischer Hammer" cyclists covering a distance of 28 kilometers, and the "Hämmerchen" athletes completing a 14-kilometer ride.

The transition zone and the finish line were situated on the grounds of AWG in Korzert, where the cheering crowds awaited the competitors' return. The running portions of the competition saw the "Bergischer Hammer" athletes tackling a 10-kilometer run, while the "Hämmerchen" competitors completed a 5-kilometer run.

Unfortunately, the search results do not provide information about the identity of the winners of the "Bergischer Hammer" and "Hämmerchen" at this year's event. Regardless, the day was filled with camaraderie, athletic prowess, and a shared love for sports.

The Tri-Club Wuppertal, along with its sponsors, is already looking forward to next year's event, promising another exciting and challenging competition for triathletes across the region.
