Insightful exposé on the private workings of her presidential campaign
In a move that has been much anticipated, former Vice President Kamala Harris has announced the release of her memoir titled "107 Days." The book, published by Simon & Schuster, is set to hit shelves on September 23.
The memoir takes its name from the length of Harris' short-lived presidential campaign in 2024. It promises to be a behind-the-scenes, candid, and reflective account of her journey, capturing deeper layers, quiet reflections, and lessons learned during her 107-day run.
Harris herself penned the memoir primarily, with no external co-author credited in the available search results. The book is described as a page-turning account with surprising and revealing insights, offering an eyewitness contribution to history and an extraordinary story of one of the wildest and most consequential presidential campaigns in American history.
In a video discussing the memoir, Harris mentioned reflecting on her 107-day campaign journey, talking with her team, family, and friends, and writing a behind-the-scenes account. The narrative style of the memoir is said to be reminiscent of "The West Wing" or "Rocky," according to Simon & Schuster's chief executive, Jonathan Karp.
Karp, who coedited the memoir with senior vice president Dawn Davis, praised Geraldine Brooks for her ability to ask discerning questions and carry a narrative. He also stated that "107 Days" captures the drama of running for president better than just about anything he's read.
Davis, who also edited the book, expressed that despite knowing how the story ends, she was turning the pages as if it was a mystery. The financial terms for the book deal were not disclosed.
Interestingly, Harris will be narrating the audiobook version of the memoir herself. Following the announcement, Harris made headlines again when she announced on Thursday that she will not run for governor of California in 2026.
On the same day, Harris is scheduled to appear on "The Late Show" for her first interview since the 2024 election, per NBC News. This promises to be an exciting opportunity for the public to gain further insights into Harris' experiences during her presidential campaign and her thoughts on her political future.
