Dresden Prosecutors Launch Probe into Alleged Money Laundering and Corruption against AfD Politician Krah

Inquiry Launched on AfD Politician Krah

Twitter Instagram Telegram Signal Email Print Copy Link It's no joke - authorities in Dresden have hit the ground running with an investigation into corrupt practices and money laundering involving AfD politician, Maximilian Krah. The Prosecutor's Office aims to bypass Krah's parliamentary immunity, as communicated by dpa.

The inquiry is rooted in Krah's former role as an MEP, new reports suggest. The ongoing investigation into suspected Russian payments remains active, according to the Office. And it was the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" who spilled the beans first.

The investigation kicked off on Thursday, with the Prosecutor's Office gearing up to determine "if there's enough to file charges or if the probe should be dropped." Innocent until proven guilty, folks!

Krah took to X to call the accusations ludicrous and politically driven. Essentially, it boils down to a lawyer submitting invoices - no harm, no foul, right? Wrong, according to Krah, who insists his reputation is under attack.

There's a buzz surrounding Krah, but not because of any confirmed corruption or money laundering allegations - quite the contrary. Recent fuss is due to a significant espionage scandal involving Krah's past assistant, Jian G., who allegedly gathered and leaked over 500 sensitive European Parliament documents while spying for China[1][2]. Krah has refused to be implicated in any wrongdoing related to the spying or the alleged leaks of sensitive documents.

In the grand scheme, there's scant evidence of ongoing or past investigations targeting Maximilian Krah specifically for corruption or money laundering[1][2]. So, let's keep our fingers crossed for old Max as the chips fall where they may, folks!
