Inquest into the demise of rapper Xatar has been terminated.
In a recent announcement, Chief Prosecutor Ulrich Bremer confirmed that the death investigation procedure regarding the prominent German rapper, Xatar, has been discontinued. The Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office has completed its investigation into Xatar's death, which occurred in his apartment in May.
The investigation was initiated to determine if there was "criminally relevant external influence" in Xatar's death. However, the results of the investigation will remain confidential to protect the privacy rights of the deceased and his relatives.
The discontinuation of the death investigation procedure indicates that the authorities have found no reason to suspect foul play in Xatar's death. No evidence was found suggesting that the death of Xatar was the result of culpable behavior by others. An evaluation of a chemical-toxicological report also did not provide any indications to the contrary.
Xatar, born in Iran, was a controversial figure in the German rap scene. Despite his previous legal troubles, including a gold heist in 2009 for which he was sentenced to prison, he managed to launch a successful career in the music business. His albums frequently topped the charts.
The Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office has stated that the death of Xatar is not being treated as a criminal case. They will not provide any further details on the investigation results to respect the privacy rights of the deceased and his relatives.
