Naoya Inoue lays claim to global boxing domination, following Pacquiao's path but with a twist

Rising superstar Naoya Inoue steps into the ring again, aiming to extend his empire in boxing, much like Manny Pacquiao did before him.

When he faces Ramon Cardenas in Las Vegas this coming Monday morning, Inoue intends to continue his reign in the sport.

Inoue hasn't battled on American soil since 2021, when he demolished Michael Dasmarinas in a mere three rounds.

The undisputed super-bantamweight champion ranks among Oleksandr Usyk, Terence Crawford, and now Inoue himself as the only three male boxers holding that prestigious status in two weight divisions during the 'four-belt era'.

Boasting an unblemished 29-0 record, 26 of those victories coming by knockout, Inoue readies himself for another showdown defending his WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF titles.

"It's been four years since I fought here," Inoue shared with Sky Sports, expressing his intentions to live up to expectations.

Pacquiao solidified his name in the ring through battles against the likes of Erik Morales, Oscar De La Hoya, and Ricky Hatton.

He's the only boxer to hold world titles in eight different weight classes, and his 2015 clash with Floyd Mayweather remains the highest selling pay-per-view event in boxing history, with 4.6 million purchases worldwide.

Incredibly, this August, Pacquiao announced his comeback, planning to battle Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title.

Inoue aspires to follow in Pacquiao's footsteps, seeking global boxing domination in a different weight class, the flyweight, aiming to undergo a WBC title defense. Inoue's ambition is to mirror Pacquiao's legacy by capturing the world's attention and engaging in high-profile fights. Despite Pacquiao's remarkable achievement of holding world titles in eight weight classes, Inoue works towards becoming a multi-weight division champion like Usyk and Crawford.
