From the DDR Pop Charts to RTL's Farmer Seeking Bride: Inka Bause's Journey - "Inka Bause: Shifting from the GDR Pop Charts to the RTL Agriculture Program"

At 16, Inka Bause captured the hearts of East Germans with her energetic performance of "Spielverderber." The youngest daughter of renowned DDR Schlager composer Arndt Bause made her television debut on New Year's Eve 1984/85, and instantly became the first teen idol of the DDR. With her iconic hairstyle - a curly pageboy with a bow - Inka was the perfect embodiment of teenage rebelliousness.

Throughout the 80s, Inka churned out hit after hit parallel to her music studies. Four decades later, she's still a singer, but better known in Western Germany for hosting RTL's popular reality show, "Bauer sucht Frau." To commemorate her lengthy musical career, she released an album, "INKA," featuring 40 songs from 40 years.

From Father's Studios to Chart-Toppers

Looking back to the 80s, Arndt Bause was composing earworms for Schlager singers in East Berlin, like Helga Hahnemann ("Dicke da") and Wolfgang Lippert ("Erna kommt"). Inka shared a unique privilege, listening to many future DDR hits at home on the piano. Her passion for music was fostered at a young age, as she started playing the violin at 8 and later took singing lessons.

The song "Spielverderber," a composition Arndt had made for another singer, was resting on the mixing board when Inka found it during rehearsals for her music studies entrance exam. She ended up singing it at a studio microphone, and the rest was history. The sound engineer recorded it, and several rock musicians encouraged her to perform it on stage.

Despite initial reservations - " I didn't want to be a teen sensation at 16 and parade on stage" - Inka's mother convinced her father to let her sing his compositions. That fateful performance resulted in an avalanche of fan mail that filled baskets, keeping Inka and her family busy writing autograph cards for days on end.

After German reunification, Inka's career evolved from singer to TV host, primarily as the face of "Bauer sucht Frau." Her new album, "INKA," marks her 40-year musical journey, with 40 songs from 40 years, including five new ones. The album also includes a 80-page booklet with personal photos, newspaper clippings, love letters, and stories about each song.

From 'Talentebude' to 'Das Supertalent'

In her youth, Inka hosted the "Talentebude," a children's television show where young entertainers showcased their talents. Fast forward to 2015, she found herself seated in the jury of RTL's casting show "Das Supertalent," alongside Dieter Bohlen and Bruce Darnell. Following one season, she decided to leave the show.

Two Roles on Stage

"Moderation is a craft, and I'm only as good as the things I present," Bause stated, highlighting her dedication to her role as a moderator. "Emotionally, music is the more important thing for me. I write, laugh, dance, and sing about my life." Constant tours and performances kept Inka busy for many years, but she recently announced her desire for a comeback this year, focusing solely on Eastern Germany. The tour kicks off on October 22 in Halle.
