England's Chris Woakes Likely to Miss Ashes Tour Due to Injury

Chris Woakes, a crucial member of England's pace bowling attack, is set to miss the upcoming Ashes tour in 2025. This unfortunate turn of events is a result of a shoulder injury he sustained during the fifth Test against India at The Kia Oval.

The injury occurred on the opening day of the Rothesay Fifth Test, and Woakes had to leave the field with a makeshift sling and visible pain. An England spokesman has effectively ruled him out of the remaining Test, dealing a significant blow to England's bowling options and balance heading into the highly competitive Ashes series in Australia.

Woakes has been the only England pace bowler to feature in every match of the series so far. He dismissed India opener KL Rahul before sustaining his injury. Despite the generally flat pitches in the preceding four Tests, Woakes managed to take 10 wickets, showcasing his valuable contribution to the team.

Unfortunately, Mark Wood is a long-term absentee, while Olly Stone is only just returning to fitness following a knee injury. As a result, England's pace attack will be a man down at The Kia Oval. Substitutes are only permitted to field, not bat or bowl, further complicating England's bowling options.

Ben Stokes, the leading wicket-taker this series, is also missing the series finale due to a shoulder injury. This leaves England in a challenging position, especially considering Woakes' mediocre record away from home and his age (36). A further assessment of Woakes' injury will be conducted at the conclusion of the series.

India, on the other hand, needs to win the match to end the five-Test series level at 2-2. At the close of Thursday's play, they were 204-6. The Rothesay Fifth Test is being played at The Kia Oval, a venue known for its lush outfield and flat pitches, which could favour the batsmen.

Despite the setbacks, England will be hoping for a strong performance from their remaining bowlers to secure a series win. The Ashes tour in 2025, however, seems to be slipping away due to Woakes' injury.

[1] Despite their hopes for a strong performance, England's chances in the Ashes tour in 2025 may be jeopardized due to Chris Woakes' uncertain international career, given his mediocre record away from home and his age (36), as his injury from the Rothesay Fifth Test against India could threaten his future participation in international sports.

[2] In light of the injuries to both Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes, the upcoming installation of England's pace bowling attack for the Ashes series against Australia in 2025 seems to be in question, as India capitalizes on the opportunity to potentially level their five-Test series against England at home.
