Initiation of the Bolzplatz Heroes
In the heart of Düsseldorf, the "Pitch Heroes" project, now in its seventh season, continues to inspire young minds and bodies. This initiative, spearheaded by the Düsseldorf Citizens' Foundation, has Robert Schäfer, CEO of Fortuna Düsseldorf, as its patron.
Launched on Fürstenplatz back in the summer of 2013, "Pitch Heroes" aims to provide a much-needed break from mobile phones, encouraging physical fitness in young people aged 6 to 18. The project's leader, Heribert Eisenburger, emphasises the importance of this, stating that while smartphones can be a valuable source of information before training, they should not be used during sports.
Heribert Eisenburger, a passionate advocate for the project, serves as its project leader. He is supported by numerous sponsors and supporters, including the Representation of the European Commission in Berlin, who are committed to spreading the word about "Pitch Heroes" through a new Instagram page.
The Citizens' Foundation, a key player in the project, provides free weekly football training on 16 pitches across the city. These training locations are strategically placed in areas with social needs, offering daily opportunities for football under the guidance of experienced coaches.
The primary objective of "Pitch Heroes" is not just to foster physical fitness but also to instil values such as respect, fairness, and team spirit. To this end, the Citizens' Foundation will be utilising its Facebook page and a new Instagram account for "Pitch Heroes" to improve communication with children and young people.
In addition to the expansion of training times at locations with high demand, "Pitch Heroes" also boasts the continued support of Oliver Fink as its ambassador. As the project moves forward, its mission remains clear: to empower the youth of Düsseldorf through the power of football.
