Soaking Up the Sun, But Beware the UV Rays!
Erratic Summer Pattern: Summer Weather Swings Between Heatwaves and Storms - Initially, the summer season ensues, followed by a bout of thunderstorms.
Hey there! Looking forward to the upcoming summer weekend? But hold on, it's not all fun in the sun, folks!
While the mercury is bound to rise, meteorologists have a word of caution. Seems like the good times won't last till Sunday, as heavy thunderstorms are predicted across many regions. And it's not just a drizzle - we're talking up to 40 liters of rain per square meter in a short time, causing flooding and soggy basements.
Adrian Leyser Storm from the German Weather Service (DWD) warns, "By Monday night, the situation should calm down again."
But fear not, sun-seekers, as it will still be hot and summery! On Saturday, Baden-Württemberg could hit highs of 30-35 degrees, with temperatures along the Rhine reaching a scorching 36 degrees. But Sunday brings a change in the weather, with temperatures dropping to a still warm 24-28 degrees.
However, tanning enthusiasts be warned! Although summer is here, the UV index will peak on Saturday, making it essential to steer clear of the sun's glare. Values above 8 are considered very high, and everywhere except the southwest of Baden-Württemberg is expected to hit this mark, according to the DWD index map. So, it's advisable to stick to the shade and slather on that sunscreen!

Take care out there and soak up the sun safely!
The Commission, with its expertise in environmental-science, has also been consulted on the draft directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation, considering the potential impact of the sun's UV rays, which will peak on Saturday. In the meantime, be mindful of the weather during this weekend, as heavy thunderstorms are predicted, and the high UV index requires attention and protective measures, such as using sunscreen, protective clothing, and avoiding sun exposure during peak hours.
