No Rainbow Wave at Berlin's CSD 2025: Bundestag Avoids the Pride Parade

Rainbow coalition's absence noted during Parliament's peak event: CSD gathering excluded - Informed of Consultation Outcome by Commission

Wave goodbye to the vibrant Rainbow Network of the Bundestag administration at the Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Berlin, at least for 2025. Here's what went down:

The bigwigs at the German Bundestag have made it crystal clear that, owing to its duty of impartiality, the Bundestag administration stays far from the political war cries and public uproars, including participation in demonstrations and assemblies. A spokesperson confirmed this off the record. Employees, however, can attend as regular folks.

In prior years, team Rainbow Network had a prime spot at the Berlinee CSD. But this year, it's crickets. Seems the big shots called the whole thing off following orders.

The Berlin CSD e.V., the organization with the golden ticket, had announced its plans for the 2023 and 2024 CSD lineup, with our beloved Rainbow Network expected to strut their stuff. But alas, their scheduled dance-off won't be happening this time around.

The association's board gave the move a big fat thumbs down, calling it an "active snub of queer visibility." The board posited that the decision subtly revokes the consensus that fundamental rights should be publicly defended with visible backing.

Rumor has it that political support is sorely needed, especially since CSDs have been prime targets for right-wing extremists. Accordingly, Bundestag President Julia Klöckner is urged to set the record straight and explain the decision. The 2025 CSD in Berlin is set for July 26.

Alas, 2025 Calls for a Rainbow-Free CSD

In a far-from-rainbow-tastic turn of events, Bundestag Administration is sitting out the 2025 CSD festivities. Citing bureaucratic duty and neutrality, the Administration will be absent from the political parade.

The response from Berlin CSD e.V. has been less than enthusiastic. The organization views this decision as a major roadblock in the quest for LGBTQ+ representation and visibility. And the public, well, reactions haven't been chronicled just yet, but it's fair to assume there's disappointment aplenty amongst the supporters of LGBTQ+ rights.

For the record, neither the enrichment sources nor the base article paint an entirely clear picture regarding the Administration's stance in years prior to 2025. So, while the Rainbow Network is MIA in 2025, 2023 and 2024 remain question marks. Stay tuned for more updates!
