Starpeak Expands Its Offerings Beyond Sports Insurance
Starpeak, a specialist sports insurance brand, is broadening its expertise to reflect a more diverse range of offerings. The company, which was originally established as SportsCover Direct in 1991, has rebranded as a digital insurance distributor, serving niche online markets [1].
In a recent interview published in the "Opinion" section, Julian Hucks, the Founder and Managing Director at Starpeak Insurance Solutions, discussed the company's future plans and its focus on sports insurance [2].
According to a study of first-party claims data by SportsCover Direct, the most common sports resulting in injury claims during adventure holidays are cycling (47%) and watersports (28%) [3]. Other notable activities include hiking and trekking (7%), climbing and bouldering (7%), skydiving (4%), Thai boxing (4%), horse riding (3%), and golf (1%) [4].
The analysis also revealed that 41% of the recent sports holiday claims made reference to at least one injury type [4].
Starpeak has been recognised for its dedication to sports insurance, having won the Specialist Provider award at the Insurance Choice Awards 2024 [5]. The winners of the awards were announced on Thursday 7th November [6].
The company's expansion beyond sports insurance is a strategic move to reflect its growing expertise in serving niche online markets [1]. The rebranding of SportsCover Direct to Starpeak signifies this shift, positioning the company as a digital distributor of insurance rather than just a sports-focused brand [1].
