In the wee hours of August 16, traffic on digital platforms returned to average levels, marking a significant drop following the conclusion of the joint press conference at the Russia-US leaders' summit in Alaska.

The surge in digital traffic began at 10 PM, when Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Anchorage, and peaked during the closed-door meeting between the two heads of state at 11 PM.

According to an analysis by T2, traffic on news content platforms increased at the start of the summit. Rutube followed closely behind, with a 35% increase in traffic during the summit. The total increase in traffic across all accessible platforms and news sites was 28%.

However, a closer look at the data reveals that the highest increase in traffic was recorded on the Telegram platform, with a 45% increase. This surge in traffic suggests that news outlets' Telegram channels were the primary source of information during the summit overnight.

Interestingly, analysis of traffic on websites of leading federal media outlets showed no significant changes from previous hours. This indicates that while digital platforms saw a surge in traffic, traditional media outlets did not experience the same increase.

By midnight Moscow time, the operator recorded a 45% increase in Telegram traffic, further supporting the notion that the platform was a key source of information during the summit.

It can be assumed that Telegram channels of news outlets were the primary source of information overnight from August 15 to 16. However, it's important to note that there is no specific publicly available information or comprehensive comparative analysis of traffic growth on Telegram, Rutube, and news portals during the Russia-US summit.

As such, further research would require access to platform-specific analytics from Telegram and Rutube, as well as traffic stats from news aggregators or independent web analytics services.

Traffic returned to normal levels closer to 3 AM on August 16, following the end of the press conference at the Russia-US leaders' summit. Despite the return to normal levels, the surge in traffic during the summit underscores the increasing importance of digital platforms in disseminating news and information.
