Information Commissioner of Kogi State Graciously Hosts 2025 NUJ Journalists' Week

The 2025 Press Week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council is currently underway, with Hon. Kingsley Fanwo serving as the Chief of the event. Organised by the Kogi State Government, this annual gathering for working journalists in Kogi State is scheduled to run from the 19th of September, 2025.

The theme for this year's Press Week is "Kogi State's Solid Minerals: How Media Can Drive Development". This focus aims to stimulate discussions and foster collaboration between the media and the government towards the development of Kogi State's solid minerals sector.

The Grand Finale of the Press Week is anticipated to take place on the 25th of September, 2025, at an unspecified time after the 13th of September, 2025. The location for the Grand Finale has not been specified, but it is expected to attract very important dignitaries from within and outside the State.

Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo will serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the Grand Finale, while Engr. Bashiru Abubakar Gegu, the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, will chair the event. His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu, the Ohimegye Igu Kingdom, will serve as the Royal Father of the day.

The NUJ National President, Comr. Alhassan Yahya Abdul, and other National and Zonal Officers of the Union are expected to attend the Grand Finale. The attendance of these esteemed guests was confirmed in a statement issued by the State NUJ Chairman, Seidu Ademu, and Secretary, Olusegun Ayindero-Oyenibi.

The Press Week provides a platform for sober reflection and repositioning the Union for effective service delivery. Although no specific important political, media, or societal figures have been announced as attending the event, the Grand Finale is expected to attract various important dignitaries.

The 2025 NUJ Press Week Grand Finale is also expected to be a significant event for the media industry, offering an opportunity for journalists to engage with key stakeholders and discuss strategies for driving development in Kogi State's solid minerals sector.
