Down Under Influencer Under Fire Over Wombat Drama
Influencer responds to backlash over contentious wombat footage - Influencer offers justification following backlash over questionable Wombat clip
Got a scorcher? Sam Jones did, but not the kind you'd find on a beach. The influencer's post left coals burning and heads rolling, copy that! Jones shared a ripper of a video on the socials where she nabbed a tiny wombat off the side of the road and hightailed it towards the camera - with mumma wombat hot on her heels. "Scored a baby wombat!" she cheers as the little critter wrestles.
The video was a wildfire, and Jones found herself under attack. She fesses up, apologizing for her reckless actions but quick to defend herself in a lengthy 'gram post. She swears she wasn't out to harm neither mum nor bub, but rather wanted to whisk the little fella away from the danger of the road. Plus, she insists the baby wasn't looking flash and feared it might've been crook.
Saying Sorry, Sorta
Jones admits she made a rash move and didn't aim to upset mum or baby. Phew! She reckons she scrambled past mum because she was scared of getting attacked, ya know, not 'cos she nicked the babe from the wombat's bosom.
She cops to acting fast and shouldn't've skimped on details for the video. But Jones ain't confessing to staging the vid for shits and giggles. "Taken a long, hard look at this situation and seen I didn't handle it like I shoulda," she admits.
Even Aussie PM Slaps Wrist
The video triggered a right pandemonium down under. Even the Prime Minister chimed in his two cents. "Ripping a baby wombat from its mum is a disgrace. Just imagine snatching a baby croc from its mum and see how you fare," said Anthony Albanese.
Jones claims she's copped threats following the controversial vid and has taken off to parts unknown. Interior Minister Tony Burke chimes in: "Never been a better day for baby wombats in Australia." Earlier, Burke said he'd reconsider her visa.

I'm not sure I'm ready for the backlash, given my actions with the wombat. Sam Jones received criticism for her intention to 'rescue' a baby wombat, which worry me. Despite the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, slamming her actions, Jones claims she acted due to concern for the baby's welfare.
