Rafting down a ski slope: four injured - Inflatable boat ride down Austrian ski slope ends in violent crash

Five friends in Austria took an inflatable boat down a ski slope in the early hours of Saturday morning. The reckless ride ended in a serious crash near Bürserberg, leaving four of the men injured.

The group had been celebrating at a private party before deciding to slide down a steep red-rated slope on the inflatable. As they reached the final section, the boat struck a steel fence near the valley station, splitting it in two.

One man, aged 23, suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in St. Gallen. A 22-year-old was also badly hurt and taken to Feldkirch Hospital. Two others sustained minor injuries, while a 21-year-old was thrown clear and escaped unharmed. All four injured men are now reported to be in stable condition.

The accident follows a night of private celebrations, with the group choosing an unusual and dangerous way to descend the mountain. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether charges will be brought against those involved.
