Industry Rebound Optimism: Actress Rakul Preet Singh Expresses Confidence in its Swift Recovery Soon

In the midst of a tough stretch for Bollywood, key filmmakers like Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, Hansal Mehta, and Anurag Kashyap advocate for reinvention. Amidst these tumultuous times, actress Rakul Preet Singh expresses the essential need for self-reliance and grit. As she puts it, "It's a wobbly time, and the number of projects seems to be dwindling. But you've gotta keep going."

Posing the question on how she readjusts her approach as an artist amidst the unpredictability, Rakul answers, "You gotta trust in yourself. Remembering why you're doing this—that's what I always do. Right now, we're discussing a state of affairs in which there are fewer movies and fewer opportunities, but there was also a time, about a decade ago when I began auditioning or waiting in line at Aram Nagar, with no work. Yet, I held onto the belief that I would make it. So, I must constantly remind myself that, even if times are tough, I'll make it through—and shine."

Rakul adds, "I'm not claiming that I'm the most gifted or attractive, but I know I'm the most hardworking. I know that if your dedication to your work is genuine, the cosmos will make it happen for you. I trust in that and let it go."

Touching upon her source of inspiration, Rakul states, "When you start from scratch with nothing, you've nobody to discourage you, tell you what to wear or dictate your actions. The only thing you bring into a room is self-confidence, and that belief will endure. That's why I refuse to give in to these situations. Sometimes you may feel like things aren't working, and it's normal to feel that way. But then the next day, you just pick yourself up and say, 'What more can I do? I've got the mindset of a soldier, 'rise and fight.'"

And Rakul thinks improvements are already on the horizon: "This is a passing predicament, things are starting to improve, and by next year, we'll be much better off. I'm incredibly optimistic about the industry rebounding—look at the number of successful movies we've already had. It shows that people are still going to the theatres."
