Indore Police Book 61 Individuals for Spreading Rumors and Hateful Content on Instagram Following the Demise of Salman Lala
In the city of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a series of events unfolded following the death of a criminal named Salman Lala. The police have registered cases against 61 Instagram account users for posting misleading information, instigating hatred, and potentially disrupting public peace.
The crime branch was previously searching for Lala due to his suspected involvement in drug supply. However, before he could be apprehended, Lala managed to evade the team and jumped into a pond in Sehore. Tragically, he drowned in the incident.
Following Lala's death, some anti-social elements attempted to exploit the situation by posting misleading and provocative posts about Lala through various Instagram IDs. These posts, which may potentially hurt the sentiments of various communities, are believed to be in violation of sections 223, 196, 353 (1) (a), and 353 (1) (c) of the BNS.
In response, the commissioner of police has issued prohibitory orders against such posts, reels, etc. on social media. The city crime branch has initiated a search for the exact individuals behind the identified Instagram accounts and further investigations are ongoing.
SI ReenaR athore from the social media monitoring cell was instructed to gather information about the social media account users spreading rumors. A total of 61 Instagram IDs have been identified by the police team.
The actions of these users are seen as a threat to communal harmony and could potentially negatively impact public peace. Thousands of people and Lala's supporters gathered at his place and BRTS near LIG Square after his body was brought to the city.
The next day, Lala's body was recovered from the pond. The exact individuals behind the identified Instagram accounts have not been publicly disclosed at this time. The Indore police continue their efforts to maintain peace and order in the city.
