Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor advances with higher farmer compensation
The Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor project is moving forward after land compensation for farmers was raised from 50% to 60%. This adjustment has encouraged more landowners to participate voluntarily in the scheme. The initiative aims to boost investment and create jobs through upgraded infrastructure and better connectivity. The project spans over 1,300 hectares and focuses on developing a 300-metre zone along both sides of a 75-metre-wide, 20-kilometre road. The total cost is estimated at Rs 2,360 crore. Landowners receiving developed plots as compensation can use them for housing, businesses, or other economic purposes.
District officials and the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) are engaging with farmers to explain the project’s advantages. The increased compensation has made many more willing to offer their land.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will perform the Bhoomi Pujan for the first phase on May 3 at 12 pm. This initial stage carries an estimated cost of Rs 326.51 crore. The corridor project is designed to support local youth and drive regional growth. With improved infrastructure and stronger connectivity, it seeks to attract investment and generate employment opportunities. The first phase marks a key step toward achieving these goals.
