Indore: Chintu Momos Shut Down Over Ajinomoto Use, Hygiene Violations

A joint operation by the district administration and the Food and Drug Administration in Indore has led to the immediate shutdown of Chintu Momos, a fast-food manufacturing unit. The unit was found to be using excessive Ajinomoto in its momos and operating without a valid license.

The inspection, which also involved collecting samples from various eateries in Indore, revealed unhygienic working conditions and improper storage of raw materials at Chintu Momos. The excessive use of Ajinomoto poses a significant health risk, particularly for children under 12 months of age.

The unit has been ordered to cease operations until further notice due to these violations. Seven samples, including four types of momos and spices, were collected, and around 150 kilograms of food items were seized. All samples have been sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal for testing. Further legal action will be taken based on the test reports.

Ensuring the safety and purity of food for Indore's citizens is a top priority for the administration. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to maintain food safety standards and protect public health.
