In an unprecedented achievement, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) women's track and field team captured its first-ever NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championship on May 24, 2025, at the SPIRE Institute's Outdoor Track & Field facility in Geneva, Ohio. This triumph rounds off a historic sweep for the women's program, capturing all three National Championship titles (cross country, indoor, and outdoor) within the same academic year.

The Engineers clinched the championship with a total of 56 points, edging past second-place Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) with 47 points and third-place University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UW-La Crosse) with 38 points. In all, 79 teams competed at the meet, with MIT leading the field.

Individual performances shone as brightly as the team victory. Nabbing nine All-America honors in six events, MIT showcased the depth and talent on their roster. Furthermore, in a remarkable feat, they secured their first relay national championship in the 4x400 meter relay, contributing crucial points to the overall team score and ultimate success.

Senior Alexis Boykin led the charge with her second-best mark in Division III history (19.71m) in the weight throw, securing her second consecutive NCAA National Championship in the event. Her teammate Emily Ball (14.19m) set a new personal record, earning All-American honors in sixth place. In the pole vault, junior Hailey Surace set a new collegiate personal record of 3.97m (13' 0 1/4") to finish as the national runner-up, securing All-America honors and seven points in the team standings.

Victorious at the finish line, MIT now shifts focus to the outdoor track and field season, opening on March 27-29, 2025, at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State University in Raleigh.
