Indonesia’s DAHANA app to revolutionize North Natuna Sea maritime security by 2025

A new digital application called DAHANA is set to bolster Indonesia's maritime security in the North Natuna Sea. Developed by the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), the system provides real-time vessel tracking and early warnings. Its official launch is now planned for November 2025, marking ITS’ 65th anniversary and a significant step in safeguarding national waters.

DAHANA builds on an earlier system, DASINA, which was introduced in 2024. Unlike its predecessor, the updated version offers a broader range of features, including live sea situation updates, threat assessments, and policy recommendations. An online discussion forum has also been added to encourage collaboration among users.

DAHANA is designed to serve as both a practical tool and a preventive measure for Indonesia's maritime borders. With real-time monitoring and interactive features, it provides authorities with clearer insights into vessel movements. The system's integration into national defence efforts marks a key milestone in securing the North Natuna Sea.
