By Thomas Badtke

Vienna is shaken by a series of grisly murders. Elderly victims, all around 80 years old, are found slain, resembling nothing more than a twisted pattern. For seasoned investigator Fina Plank, it's clear as daylight - the "Cuckoo" has returned!

Bigger isn't always better. At least, not for Fina Plank, the diminutive powerhouse who leads the three Vienna homicide commissions. She's petite, packed with determination, and bearing a name that sounds like an angel crashing into concrete. Fina out-smarts her detractors, like the insufferable Oliver, and holds her own amidst friends like Achmed, Manfred, and Georg.

Now, the younger sister moves in after a messy breakup, pushing Fina's patience to its limits. Desperate for some peace, Fina dives even deeper into her investigation, hoping to catch the "Cuckoo" before he claims another life.

Elderly Assassinations

A man in his 80s is butchered, just a stone's throw away from the previous crime scene. The prime suspect, a local pimp, runs off with his victim, disappearing abroad. But then two more elderly men meet a similar fate, along with a former minister of 75. On the surface, the victims seem unrelated, but Fina sees through the deception - the "Cuckoo" is back, and this time, he's playing for keeps.

Dark Dance

Ursula Poznanski's gripping thriller, "Devil's Dance," centers around the stalwart Fina Plank as she hunts the "Cuckoo." Running from the past, the mysterious serial killer targets the elderly, but Fina is undeterred. Uncovering clues, she delves deep into the shadows of their shared past and unmasks a connection to a place burned to the ground years ago.

Caught in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse, Fina Plank must summon every ounce of her strength and resolve to bring the "Cuckoo" to justice and save Vienna from his twisted feet. And you can bet there's a surprise in store!

"Devil's Dance" is the third installment in Ursula Poznanski's popular "Mordgruppen" series, following "Stille blutet" and "Böses Licht." Jenna Nachtmann's brilliant narration immerses listeners in a world where humor is always close by, and morally reprehensible characters like Oliver are brought to life. With its crisp Viennese dialogue, charming camaraderie, and laser-focused interpretation of the darker corners of human nature, "Devil's Dance" promises a heart-stopping, nerve-wracking ride!

Community policy should be implemented to ensure the safety of elderly citizens in light of the recent series of murders, as detailed in "Devil's Dance" by Ursula Poznanski. Meanwhile, Fina Plank, the protagonist, maintains her employment despite the challenges, making time to solve the case between reading books for entertainment and dealing with personal matters.
