Individual under investigation following accusations of unlawfully confining former romantic partner

A 31-year-old guy residing in Hawaiian Beaches is slapped with 18 charges, with 16 of them involving firearm-related felonies, after his former girlfriend accuses him of confining her for 10 harrowing days. The police allege that Solomon Lord held his ex-partner captive following an attempt to retrieve her belongings from his home on Lalakea Street.

According to court documents, the woman claimed that she wanted to gather her stuff and leave but Lord took her phone and forced her to stay, arguing that they needed to work things out. Eventually, she was granted permission to visit the Hawaii Island Community Health Center after scheduling an appointment on April 16.

Despite being allowed to use her phone, Lord waited in his car during her doctor's appointment while she secretly called the police for an escort to collect her belongings. The woman left the clinic through a back door and was driven to the police station by her sister. Once arrested, Lord claimed he had no firearms and did not hold his former partner against her will. However, he did admit to pulling her back into the house when she was acting strangely and speaking to neighbors.

Police later obtained a search warrant for Lord's residence, finding numerous firearms. As a man on probation for a 2023 felony property damage conviction, Lord is not allowed to own firearms. Officers recovered several illegal weapons, including an unserialized FM Products 9mm assault pistol with a nine-inch barrel, an unserialized 9mm semi-automatic pistol with a loaded high-capacity magazine, an unserialized 5.56 caliber rifle, a loaded Marlin brand lever-action 30-30 caliber rifle, and a loaded Savage model 10 .308 caliber bolt-action rifle.

Lord denies these allegations but faces charges for 10 counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, ownership of an automatic firearm, three counts of ownership of an automatic firearm with a detachable magazine, two counts of possessing firearm receivers without serial numbers, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, and domestic abuse.

Given the gravity of these charges, Lord faces up to 10 years in prison for the Class B felonies. His plea hearing occurred on Thursday, and Judge Peter Kubota set the trial date for September 2, maintaining Lord's bail at $484,000. Lord remains in custody at the Hawaii Community Correctional Center.
