Daredevil Climbs Dortmund Stadium Roof, Refuses to Foot €12k Police Bill

Hang on, here's a wild story you won't forget! A fella from Osnabrück decided it'd be a peachy idea to ascend the Dortmund football stadium during the Euro 2020 quarter-final last June. Now, he's got balls the size of watermelons because he ain't gonna cough up the 12 grand the cops are asking for. He's taken his case to the administrative court in Gelsenkirchen, and the German Press Agency confirmed it.

This lawsuit's been labeled as 17 K 3525/25, and his lawyer's blurb was delivered to the court a couple of Fridays ago.

Cops Demand Every Penny, and Then Some

The Dortmund police slapped the guy, who was 21 at the time, with a bill for 12,076.93 euros for the deployment costs. Apparently, 108 officers, including some SEK gangsters, were involved.

"A big chunk of that, nearly 10k euros, is for the hours those boys in blue put in," a Dortmund cop explained in late April. Besides personnel costs, additional fees were charged for examination and confiscation of his backpack by the North Rhine-Westphalia State Criminal Police Office, and for the copter ride. So far, the rooftop Romeo's only coughed up a measly €1,050 for trespassing.

Camera-Happy Stuntman Gets Nabbed Again

Our fearless rooftop adventurer was uncovered under the stadium two days into the Germany vs. Denmark match. According to "Der Spiegel," he'd already climbed up the joint the night before to snap souvenir photos. He's said to be one of the "roofers" crew, a group of thrill-seekers who love scaling heights. He made headlines again in October when they nabbed him at the Ulm Minster.

His lawyer's been talking smack about the bill even before it landed. He told "Der Spiegel" he wouldn't pay a cent. The fuzz were already on the scene anyways.

Now, it's never a smart move to scale a stadium mid-game, but if your bank account's an empty vault, the fines can quickly stack up, leading some to contest them. It's unclear if this is the case here, but we'll keep you posted as more details surface. Stay tuned!
