A sinkhole approximately 100 square meters in size has occurred on Yassawi Street in Auezov District, causing disruption to traffic and affecting local residents. Two buses got stuck in the sinkhole, and thirteen cars have fallen into holes after recent rain in the area, as previously reported.

Emergency services were quickly called to help the stuck buses, and workers are currently working to restore the road surface on Yassawi Street. The company responsible for the repairs, JSC "Almaty Su", is undertaking the project.

Heavy rainfall is believed to have caused the undermining of subscriber network trenches and weakened the soil base, leading to the sinkhole and damage to the road surface. The soil beneath the asphalt weakened due to erosion, causing deformation of the road surface.

An investigation is being conducted to determine the exact cause of the asphalt collapse on Yassawi Street. It is possible that improper soil compaction may have played a role, which will be determined by the results of the investigation. A request has been sent to the authorized body of the Urban Planning Control Department to assess the quality of the work done on Yassawi Street.

The subcontractor, 'SpetsKommunStroy', was responsible for laying 2.8 km of sewer networks on the affected section. It is suspected that the trenches for the sewer networks began to erode after heavy rains, contributing to the sinkhole.

However, the technical supervision of the project has stated that the work was carried out in accordance with SNiP standards and the project's requirements. The estimated completion date for the road restoration is September 18. Workers are working diligently to ensure the road is safe and passable as soon as possible.
