Individual allegedly faces charges for disturbance and lewd behavior following a WNBA sex toy incident

The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) has tightened its rules regarding objects being thrown onto the court, following a series of disruptive incidents involving sex toys.

In a move aimed at ensuring player safety and maintaining respect for the game, the WNBA has announced that any fan intentionally throwing an object onto the court will face immediate ejection, a minimum one-year ban from attending games, and potential prosecution by local authorities[1][2]. These measures are part of the WNBA Arena Security Standards, which prioritise the safety and well-being of everyone in WNBA arenas.

The stringent action comes after a 23-year-old named Delbert Carver was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, public indecency/indecent exposure, and criminal trespass for allegedly throwing a neon-green sex toy onto a WNBA court[3]. Carver's case is currently "pending." He was released from jail late Sunday on bond.

Another sex-toy-throwing incident occurred last Tuesday, about 15 miles away from where Carver was arrested[4]. The second incident took place during the Golden State Valkyries' game against the Chicago Sky.

The initial incident went viral on social media, with players such as Sophie Cunningham and Angel Reese commenting on the matter. Cunningham blamed an unspecified teammate, Sydney Colson, for the incidents, although Colson responded with a photo of herself wearing a green jacket[5]. Reese jokingly joined the blame game, attributing the fiasco to Colson as well[6].

The WNBA has been facing predictions that new star Caitlin Clark could help the league profit after three decades[7]. Clark's arrival could potentially attract more fans and revenue, providing a much-needed boost for the league.

As the WNBA continues to address these incidents and enforce stricter rules, it remains committed to ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all players and fans.
