Nintendo Indie Direct overlooked: Demonschool, a tactics RPG inspired by Persona, will be released in a matter of weeks

Indie game Demonschool, resembling Persona in gameplay, is set to launch in a few short weeks, despite being overlooked in the recent Nintendo Indie Direct news.

After much anticipation, the indie game scene is gearing up for the release of two highly-anticipated titles - Demonschool and Mina the Hollower. Amongst these, the release date for Demonschool has been confirmed.

Developed by Necrosoft Games and published by Ysbryd Games, Demonschool is a tactical RPG that takes players on a supernatural horror journey. Set in a college, the game stars Faye, a freshman born into a family of demon hunters. The game's tactical combat, social links, and blend of school life and horror elements evoke comparisons to popular series like Persona and Shin Megami Tensei.

The official global launch date for Demonschool is September 3, 2025. This release date was confirmed during the Indie World Japan presentation and applies to multiple platforms including PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.

Initially promised for a 2023 release, Demonschool experienced delays. However, the developers have been working diligently to ensure the game's quality, and they expressed their excitement and hope that players will enjoy the final product. A new 30-second trailer for Demonschool was recently released, showcasing a vibe reminiscent of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Persona.

While no specific release date for Mina the Hollower has been announced, it is expected to follow close behind. The developers at Necrosoft Games have remained silent about their other title, Silksong, but fans remain hopeful.

The latest Nintendo Indie World showcase in August 2025 featured Demonschool, but it was not showcased in the US or UK streams. Despite this, the imminent release of Demonschool may signal the beginning of a new era for indie games.

With multiple language options including English, French, Spanish, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese, Demonschool is set to reach a wide audience. So, mark your calendars for September 3, 2025, and get ready to dive into the world of Demonschool!
