India's Sumit Antil Breaks Record, Wins Third Consecutive Javelin Gold at World Para Athletics Championships

India's Sumit Antil has made history at the World Para Athletics Championships, setting a new record and winning his third consecutive javelin title. The Championships saw India's most successful day, with two gold and two silver medals, propelling the country to the fourth spot in the medals tally.

Antil, coached by a foreign mentor during his Paralympic career, threw an impressive 71.37m in the men's javelin F64 event, breaking the championship record. This victory, along with his gold medals in the 2023 and 2024 editions, cemented his status as the most successful Indian in the history of the World Para Athletics Championships. Antil's remarkable achievements include winning gold medals at the 2021 Tokyo and 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

Yogesh Kathuniya, another Indian athlete, maintained his impressive streak, winning a medal in all four World Championships since 2019. However, this time, he had to settle for silver in the men's F56 discus throw event. Sandip Sargar and Sandeep Chaudhary also made India proud, winning gold and silver respectively in the men's javelin F44 event.

India's outstanding performance at the Championships, led by Sumit Antil's record-breaking feat, has resulted in the country moving up to the fourth position in the medals tally with a total of 4 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze medal. This success reflects the growing prowess of Indian para-athletes on the global stage.
