Indians must be prepared to make sacrifices to maintain independence, according to the RSS chief.
In a speech delivered on Independence Day in Bhubaneswar, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat called upon Indians to work diligently and make sacrifices to keep the nation's independence "alive."
Bhagwat emphasized the need for sustained hard work, similar to that of their ancestors who fought for three generations to achieve independence. He urged citizens to make sacrifices in the spirit of those who made them during the freedom struggle, in order to preserve the country’s freedom and progress.
Bhagwat envisioned a self-confident and self-sufficient India that rises economically and politically, becoming strong and wealthy to command global respect and help the world overcome long-standing problems. He suggested aligning efforts on the basis of India’s religion and intellect, implying that cultural and spiritual values, as well as wisdom, should underpin this dedication.
The goal, according to Bhagwat, is not just national progress, but also to emerge as a moral and guiding force for the world, contributing to global prosperity and peace. He noted that "Swatantra" is a combination of two words - "Swa" and "Tantra", implying self-rule.
Bhagwat expressed concern about the current state of the world, with environmental issues and quarrels, and stated that an independent India has a duty towards the entire world, which is facing numerous problems. He said it is India's duty to provide a solution and create a new world filled with happiness and peace based on India's vision, rooted in religious principles.
In his speech, Bhagwat also highlighted that the purpose of gaining independence was to ensure happiness, courage, security, peace, and respect for everyone in India. He stated that India should guide others, resolve issues, and make the world peaceful and prosperous as a Vishwa Guru.
