Indian yogic practitioner Alpana Dubey impresses at the 6th Asian Yogasana Championship, clinching 2 bronze medals for her home country in the United Arab Emirates.
The 6th Asian Yogasana Championship, a remarkable event showcasing the transformative power of yoga, took place in Fujairah, UAE, from August 9 to 10, 2025. Hosted by the UAE Ministry of Sports in partnership with the Asian Yogasana Sports Federation (AYSF), UAE Sports for All Federation, and UAE Yoga Committee, this historic event gathered 160 top yogis from 16 Asian countries, including China, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, and Iran.
As the host nation, the UAE stood as a beacon of visionary progress, demonstrating its commitment to fostering intercultural collaboration, youth engagement, and holistic health on the world stage. The championship's theme, "Yoga Across Borders," emphasised yoga's role in uniting cultures, nations, and communities to promote peace, inclusivity, and shared well-being through yogasana sport.
The championship took place at the Zayed Sports Complex, a state-of-the-art venue that provided an exceptional platform to showcase yogasana on the world stage. The event was noteworthy for its continental showcase of excellence in yogasana, with rigorous judging and adjudication from a respected panel.
One of the standout performers was Alpana Dubey, who won two bronze medals for Team India in the 2nd Asian Yogasana Sport Championship held in New Delhi, India. Alpana has a long history of success in yogasana, having won medals in various competitions, including the Uttar Pradesh Yogasana Sports Championship, the CBSE Cluster North Zone Inter-School Yogasana Competition, and the National Level Yoga Championships. In the 6th Asian Yogasana Championship, she won medals in both the Traditional Yoga and Artistic Yoga categories, further cementing her place as a top yogasana athlete.
This was the first time a continental-level Yogasana championship was hosted in the Gulf region, marking a significant milestone in positioning the UAE as a key hub for yoga sport and wellness tourism in Asia.
