Prime Minister Narendra Modi has added another prestigious accolade to his collection, as he was conferred with 'The Order of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago' during a recent visit to the Caribbean nation. This award, the highest civilian honour of Trinidad and Tobago, was bestowed upon him by President Christine Kangaloo, recognising his global leadership, deep ties with the Indian diaspora, and humanitarian efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This is the 25th international honour bestowed upon PM Modi by a country, making him the most internationally decorated Indian Prime Minister in history. Since 2016, he has received 28 significant international awards, reflecting his global stature.
In accepting the award at a glittering ceremony, PM Modi expressed his gratitude and dedicated the Mauritius award to the special friendship between India and Mauritius and to the 1.4 billion people of India and their 1.3 million "brothers and sisters" in Mauritius.
Earlier this year, Mauritius and Sri Lanka had conferred their highest civilian honours upon PM Modi. Notable awards he has received include Saudi Arabia's King Abdulaziz Sash (2016), Afghanistan's State Order of Ghazi Amir Amanullah Khan (2016), Palestine's Grand Collar of the State of Palestine Award (2018), and the UAE's Order of Zayed Award (2019).
In 2023, PM Modi was honoured with the United Nations' highest environmental accolade, the Champions of The Earth Award, for his bold environmental leadership. He was also awarded the Seoul Peace Prize by the Seoul Peace Prize Cultural Foundation in 2018 for his contributions to global harmony and world peace.

PM Modi was previously conferred with Guyana's 'The Order of Excellence' by President Mohamed Irfaan Ali.
