In a franchise-altering moment, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi achieved a 35-ball century for the Rajasthan Royals against the Gujarat Titans, etching his name in the history books. The IPL batting sensation made his debut against Lucknow Super Giants in April, becoming the youngest player ever to debut in the IPL. In his first professional T20 cricket match, he showcased remarkable talent, hitting his first ball for a six, and posted an impressive score of 34 runs off 20 balls.
However, it was his record-breaking century against Gujarat Titans that soared him to stardom. Suryavanshi scored an incredible 101 off 38 deliveries, including 11 sixes and 7 fours. This second-fastest century in IPL history, behind only Chris Gayle, also set a new record for the fastest century by an Indian in the IPL, surpassing Yusuf Pathan's previous record of a 37-ball hundred.
Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson was full of praise for Suryavanshi, calling his century "sheer class." Suryavanshi, known for his aggressive batting style and composure under pressure, has amassed a total of 252 runs in seven matches, averaging 36.00. His strike rate of over 206.55 has also turned heads.
