This incredible quartet hails from the vibrant islands of Madagascar, Comoros, Mauritius, and Réunion in the western Indian Ocean. Each artist brings their powerful voice for environmental conservation and sustainable development to this unique concert series, Klangkosmos World Music. Their program showcases a stunning blend of musical styles, languages, and instruments native to their islands.
The Indian Ocean All-Stars MOREKOMA have prepared 14 brand-new pieces for this concert. Using traditional acoustic instruments, they'll weave a tapestry of sound that'll captivate your senses. From the blues of the Indian Ocean (Sega) to Maloya from the highlands of Madagascar, and along with Twarab and more, their performance will be a symphony of culture and tradition.
In the hour before the concert (starting at 6:30 PM), get ready to learn from cultural manager and environmental activist Percy Yip Tong from Mauritius. He'll share insights on the challenges facing the Pacific Islands and the Indian Ocean due to the climate crisis and other environmental hazards.
