Indian Government Initiates Operation Sindhu: Rescue of Indian Citizens from Tehran Amid Israel-Iran Conflict; 110 Successfully Repatriated
The Lowdown on Operation Sindhu:
Stay informed about India's bustling evacuation operation, Operation Sindhu, as it aids Indian citizens residing in the turbulent Iran. Amidst escalating tension between Iran and Israel, with whispers of a potential Israeli-American military attack on Iran, the Government of India has sprung into action.
Approximately 10,000 Indian nationals are hunkered down in Iran at the moment, with around 6,000 of them being students. Kicking off the operation, India successfully whisked away an initial batch of 110 students from northern Iran. The students journeyed safely by road to Yerevan, Armenia, under the watchful eyes of the Indian Embassy and the Indian mission in Armenia. Flying out from Yerevan, they touched down in New Delhi in the wee hours of the following day, marking the first success of Operation Sindhu.
The Indian Embassy in Tehran isn't resting on its laurels. They're working tirelessly to move citizens from perilous zones within Iran to safer ground, preparing for further, wide-ranging evacuation missions. From land routes to friendly neighboring countries to air travel directly to India, various safe exit methods are in the works.
To streamline this vast operation, the Indian government has set up a 24/7 Control Room in New Delhi, as well as an emergency helpline by the Embassy of India in Tehran. These resources are intended to assist threatened citizens on the ground. Simultaneously, Operation Sindhu is extending its reach to evacuate Indian nationals from Israel as the Middle East tensions intensify.
In short, Operation Sindhu is the epicenter of efforts to protect and repatriate Indian citizens from Iran, with successful initial results and ongoing, coordinated efforts between Indian missions and control rooms around the clock.
