Indian female boxers Nisha and Muskan secure gold medals, as nine out of ten of their compatriots bring home medals from the Asian U19 Boxing Championships.
India's boxing contingent made a strong showing at the U19 and U22 Asian Boxing Championships held in Bangkok, Thailand. The country fielded a total of 40 boxers, evenly split between the two age groups, and walked away with an impressive haul of 27 medals.
The U19 team, in particular, was a force to be reckoned with. They secured 14 medals, including 3 golds, 7 silvers, and 4 bronze. Nisha (54kg), Muskan (57kg), and Rahul (75kg) were among the gold medal winners, demonstrating India's depth of talent at the youth level.

Despite three losses in the U19 finals, India's status as an emerging powerhouse in boxing remains. Nisha (54kg), Muskan (57kg), and Aarti Kumari (75kg) all lost their finals, but their performances were impressive nonetheless. Nisha clinched her gold medal by defeating Sirui Yang of China 4:1 in the final round. Kritika Wasan (80kg) lost to Kuralay Yeginbaikyzy of Kazakhstan, while Vini lost the 60kg final to Sevara Mamatova of Uzbekistan and Nisha lost the 65kg final to Amira Akimoto of Japan.
Three more Indian women boxers will compete in the men's finals later in the day. A total of nine Indian women boxers will return with medals from the U19 Asian Boxing Championships, with five other Indian women boxers winning silver. Despite the losses, India still has a total of 12 medals (9 from U19 and 3 from U22) from the U19 and U22 Asian Boxing Championships.
