"Indian Embassy Initiates 'A Tree for Every Mother' Campaign at Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Natural Reserve: Heartwarming Effort Sparks Interest"

In the spirited celebration of our planet and the unconditional love of motherhood, the Indian Embassy in Kuwait teamed up with UN-Habitat Kuwait to host a tree planting event, aligning with the international 'Plant for Mother' campaign. This heart-warming occasion took place on May 3, 2025, at the Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Natural Reserve, a sanctuary revered for Kuwait's indigenous flora and fauna.

A diverse gathering graced the event, including His Excellency Hamad Jassim Al-Habashi, Governor of Jahra, heads of UN-Habitat and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Kuwait, ambassadors from numerous countries, media personnel, and vibrant members of the Kuwaiti Indian community.

United in environmental stewardship, they planted native saplings like Rhanterium epapposum, Calligonum comosum, and Acacia gerrardii, each representing the arid essence of Kuwait's natural landscape. The event adopted a touching tribute by placing individualized plaques with the participants' mothers' names alongside the newly planted trees – symbolizing the campaign's core message of honoring motherhood while cherishing Earth.

Originated by India's Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, on World Environment Day 2024, the 'Plant for Mother (Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam)' campaign invites people to plant trees in their mothers' names, merging ecological action with heartfelt emotions. Since its inception, the campaign has experienced extraordinary global uptake, with more than 1.4 billion saplings planted worldwide.

Numerous world leaders have affirmed the call to action, either alongside the Indian Prime Minister or through local events in their jurisdictions, reflecting its universal appeal. The Kuwaiti event is a testament to this global movement, perpetuating collective environmental responsibility, and promoting a greener, sustainable future.

More than just a bond between India and Kuwait, this drive served as a poignant reminder of the profound relationship between humanity and nature – rooted in the nurturing spirit of mothers.
