Indian authorities have demolished houses of suspects linked to the Kashmir attack.
Fresh Take:
It looks like there's been some mix-up regarding the location of the recent terrorist attack.
The actual incident, as reported by various sources, occurred in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam in Indian-administered Jammu & Kashmir, not Bayasar Valley.
On April 22, a group of terrorists carried out an attack on local residents and tourists in the Baisaran Valley, leading to 27 casualties, mostly Hindu tourists, and 17 injuries.
The attack was later claimed, then retracted, by The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy for the Lashkar-e-Taiba group. Some believe that Lashkar-e-Taiba and their proxies, who have been linked to Pakistani intelligence, are responsible for terrorist activities in the region.
Following the attack, India intensified counter-terror operations to crack down on terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba. This crackdown resulted in the demolition of structures reportedly belonging to commanders of the Lashkar-e-Taiba group, as well as other suspected militants.
The attack has escalated tensions between India and Pakistan, with India responding by suspending aspects of the Indus Waters Treaty. The international community has also strongly condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with the victims' families.
There's been criticism directed towards Western media for potentially downplaying the attack, enabling terrorism through inaccurate reporting. However, it's important to note that some organizations feel this inaccurate reporting contributes to the enabling of terrorism.
