India triumphs over resilient Oman in the Asia Cup T20 tournament
In the ongoing T20 World Cup, India and Pakistan have moved into the Super Four stage, following their victories in Group A. This means they will face each other again next week, a week after their previous encounter.
The Super Four match between India and Pakistan is set to take place at Abu Dhabi, the same venue where they last met. India, who batted first, scored 188-8, with Sanju Samson top-scoring for the team with 56 runs. Abhishek Sharma also contributed significantly, making 38 runs off just 14 balls.
Meanwhile, Oman, ranked 20th in the world T20 rankings, put up a strong fight in their first match against the T20 World Cup winners. They took multiple wickets, with bowlers like Shah Faisal, Jiten Ramanandi, and Kaleem taking two wickets each.
Kaleem and Mirza, in particular, shone for Oman, putting on 93 runs for the second wicket. Hammad Mirza made 51 runs, while Aamir Kaleem scored 64 runs. However, Hardik Pandya sent back Hammad Mirza with his pace bowling and took a stunning outfield catch to dismiss Aamir Kaleem, which proved crucial in India's victory.
Arshdeep Singh, India's bowler, also had a memorable performance. He took the fourth wicket of the innings and reached his 100th T20 international wicket, making him the first Indian bowler to reach the century mark. Arshdeep achieved this milestone during the Asia Cup 2025 match against Oman.
Elsewhere, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will play each other in the first match of the Super Four on Saturday. The winner of this match will join India and Pakistan in the next round.
