India-Pakistan Tensions Escalate: Delhi Authorities Revoke Employee Leave Permissions

Tensions Escalate Between India and Pakistan: In a striking move, India's authorities have prohibited all government officials from taking leaves, preparation for the emergency response system taking precedence, as per the latest announcement by the Delhi government. This notice came as India and Pakistan found themselves in a heated confrontation following Operation Sindoor, an offensive launched by India on May 7, 2025, striking alleged militant groups in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan.

Pakistan, in response, allegedly fired eight missiles towards several Indian cities like Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, Arnia, triggering air defense units to intercept them. The skirmishes didn't end there, as Pakistani drones were also intercepted in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur, Jaisalmer, and other regions, leading to explosions and temporary blackouts.

During a press conference, India's Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri, stated that Pakistan's escalation would be met with appropriate responses. Misri added that India's intention was not to instigate further conflicts, and its actions were precise, controlled, and measured. targeting only terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan.

However, the Pakistan Ministry of Defence stated that on the night of May 7-8, 2025, Pakistan attempted to attack multiple Indian military targets across numerous cities using drones and missiles. These attempts were foiled by India's Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defense systems. Pakistan later claimed that an air defense system at Lahore was neutralized by India.

The situation escalated further when Pakistan allegedly increased its unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir, resulting in civilian casualties. India, in turn, responded to suspend Mortar and Artillery fire from Pakistan.

This ongoing conflict has led to a significant diplomatic crisis, with both nations expelling each other's diplomats, suspending visa services, closing borders, and imposing trade restrictions. The international community is closely monitoring the situation, as tensions between India and Pakistan have the potential to widen regional and global implications. Misinformation campaigns are also rampant across media outlets of both countries, fueling the already volatile situation.
