India and USA deepen energy ties with high-level strategic talks
India and the USA have stepped up their energy cooperation, with a high-level delegation from the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) visiting India. The visit saw discussions on various energy projects and collaborations, reflecting a strong diplomatic partnership and shared commitment to sustainable development and energy security.
The visiting delegation, led by USISPF Chairman John Chambers and President Mukesh Aghi, included prominent figures such as Google's Prabhakar Raghavan, Exxon Mobil's Jack P. Williams, and ReNew group's Vikram Kapur. They met with Union Power Minister Manohar Lal to explore potential collaborations in the energy sector.
The Minister emphasized India's commitment to 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', an ancient Indian idea of 'the world is one family', highlighting the importance of shared growth, shared responsibility, and a shared future. He noted India's achievements in strengthening power, housing, and urban sectors through innovation and inclusive growth.
The discussions focused on several areas, including transmission sector collaboration, investment in energy storage solutions, power supply to data centers, and green hydrogen affordability. American companies such as General Electric, Texas Instruments, and AES Corporation are expected to play a significant role in these collaborations.
Both sides acknowledged the growing momentum in India-USA energy cooperation, with a focus on sustainable development and energy security. The Minister highlighted India's national missions in energy transition, urban infrastructure, PM-AWAS Yojana, and digital infrastructure expansion, indicating a bright future for bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
