Independent Lisbon Film Festival honors "Transforming into a Guinea Fowl"

Get ready, movie buffs! The screenings don't stop at Cinema Ideal, as a critically acclaimed film is scheduled for a second showing at 9:30 PM today. Paula Tomás Marques bagged the Best Director Award for Feature Film (1,000 euros) with 'Duas Vezes João Liberada.' The jury admired her daring and innovative approach to filmmaking, which creatively pushes the boundaries of historical and cinematic conventions.
The national jury also gave an honorary mention to 'Deuses de Pedra' by Iván Castiñeiras Gallego, while 'Antígona ou a História de Sara Benoliel' by Francisco Mira Godinho won the Best Portuguese Short Film Award, valued at 2,000 euros.
The Novo Talento McFly Award, worth 5,000 convertible euros in post-production sound services, went to 'La Durmiente' by Maria Inês Gonçalves. The Novíssimos Prize, adding 1,000 euros in promotion and the sale of the film, was awarded to 'Em Reparação,' directed by Beatriz Machado Oliveira.
'Ariel' by Lois Patino and 'little boy' by James Benning shared the Honda Silvestre Award for Best Feature Film, worth 1,500 euros each, while 'Razeh-del' by Maryam Takafori took home the Silvestre School of Arts Award for Best Short Film, which includes a 1,000-euro prize.
'Orlando Pantera' by Catarina Alves Costa clinched the IndieMusic Award, valued at 1,000 euros. The film will have a special screening at IndieLisboa on Sunday, May 11, at 6:30 PM, at the Emilio Rui Vilar Auditorium, Culturgest.
The Amnesty International Award, worth 1,500 euros, was given to 'On Becoming a Guinea Fowl' by Rungano Nyoni.
The MUTIM Award, worth 250 euros, for the short film that makes a notable contribution to a non-stereotypical cinematic imagination in Portuguese cinema went to 'Amanhã Não Dão Chuva' by Maria Trigo Teixeira.
The Schools Award for Best Short Film honored 'Antígona ou a História de Sara Benoliel,' while 'Deuses de Pedra' by Iván Castineiras Gallego seized the Universities Award for Best Portuguese Feature Film.
