Independence Day celebrations this year carry exceptional importance, stated the minister.

On Pakistan's 78th Independence Day, Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman expressed extraordinary significance for the occasion. The day began with the Minister paying respects at Mazar-e-Quaid, offering prayers for the nation's unity, security, peace, and prosperity.

Lahore's historic Hazoori Bagh was the venue for the central Independence Day ceremony, where diplomats from Turkey, China, Iran, and the United States, parliamentarians, provincial ministers, senior government officials, civil society representatives, and enthusiastic students from various institutions gathered. The Minister commended the spirited participation of students, even amidst the rain.

The Minister represented Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif at the main event. He emphasized the importance of unity, sacrifice, and love for the motherland, echoing the true message of Independence Day. He also commended the strategic brilliance that led to Operation Bunyan al-Marsus, a precision missile strike launched by Pakistan on May 10, 2025, as a calibrated military response to sustained Indian aggression following a militant attack in Indian-administered Kashmir.

Operation Bunyan al-Marsus, meaning "a structure firmly joined together," was a significant symbolic and strategic operation that reinforced Pakistan’s military resolve and aimed to shape its global image as a capable and unified nation defending its sovereignty. The Minister highlighted that the operation demonstrated Pakistan’s military readiness and willingness to respond decisively, countering perceptions of hesitancy and asserting its capability to maintain escalation control in a longstanding and complex Indo-Pak conflict.

The Minister also underscored the emotional and patriotic significance of the operation, named in honor of seven Pakistani children martyred in earlier Indian attacks. He stated that this year's Independence Day holds extraordinary significance, not just as a celebration of the nation's independence, but also as a testament to Pakistan's resilience and military prowess.

As the ceremony concluded with performances of the national anthem and patriotic songs by schoolchildren, the Minister inscribed his heartfelt reflections in the dignitaries' guest book and paid tribute to both the political and military leadership. He asserted that our forces delivered a resounding defeat to India, ensuring it no longer dares to challenge Pakistan's might. Despite the rain prompting an early wrap-up, the enthusiasm of the participants remained undiminished, marking a day of unity and pride for Pakistan.
