In a series of municipal elections held across Germany, two mayoral candidates from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Social Democratic Party (SPD) have secured leading positions in their respective races.

In Bruchsal, Sven Weigt, the CDU mayor of Karlsdorf-Neuthard, received the largest vote share in the first round of the mayoral election with 48.64%. His closest competitor, Helge Viehweg, the SPD mayor of Straubenhardt, trailed behind with 37.84%. As a result, Weigt and Viehweg will face each other again in the runoff election scheduled for July 27.

Meanwhile, in Oehringen (Hohenlohekreis), Patrick Wegener, the current chairman of the SPD faction in the city council, won the mayoral election with over two-thirds of the votes. However, due to the absence of specific information regarding the number of votes Wegener received, local news sources or official municipal announcements should be consulted for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

In a surprising turn of events, an independent candidate received 30.42% of the votes in Oehringen's mayoral election, while Peter Lohnert, an independent sustainability consultant, garnered 2.58% of the votes.

Elsewhere, Michael Keßler, the CDU chairman in the Bruchsal city council, will become the new mayor of Horb am Neckar (district of Freudenstadt). Keßler received 70.32% of the votes in Horb's mayoral election, defeating his competitor Winfried Asprion, who received 23.45% of the votes. Keßler, who currently chairs the CDU faction in the city council and sits in the local council of the district of Ahlsdorf, aims to improve finances and urban development in Horb, particularly after the construction of the B 32 bridge over the Neckar.

In his campaign, Keßler also addressed the relationship between the 17 villages and the core city in Horb. This focus on unity and development is expected to guide his tenure as the new mayor.
