Are you hitting the road for a long weekend escapade? Well, brace yourself, especially if you're heading to Lower Saxony, Bremen, or Hamburg. The first traffic jams of Pentecost are upon us, and drivers require a dash of patience to navigate through the mess.

The spokesperson for ADAC (Germany's largest automobile club) has shared that these regions are notorious for congestion during the Pentecost weekend. In fact, it's one of the most gridlocked holidays in Deutschland, according to the automobile bigwig.

Take Bremen and Hamburg, for example. The road leading towards Osnabrück on the A1 experienced a whopping eight-kilometer backup at times. Meanwhile, drivers around Hamburg and bound for the coast endured grueling traffic for an hour on the A7 and A1 thoroughfares. The vertical stretch between Maschen in Lower Saxony and Hamburg-Moorfleet was a deadlock for over 13 kilometers.

To top it off, ongoing construction sites and the daily grind of rush-hour traffic poured salt in the wound.

It's no secret why roadways turn into a tangled web during Pentecost. Increased travel, school breaks, family road trips, construction projects, and special events all contribute to the mayhem. So, if you're heading out on the road this Whit weekend, remember to journal your too-close-for-comfort encounters with fellow motorists and share them with ADAC, so they can address areas in need of improvement. Happy Motoring!
