Increased Security Surrounding Dhanmondi 32 in Preparation for 15th August

As the nation commemorated the death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15, security measures were intensified in the Dhanmondi 32 area of Dhaka. The heightened precautions were aimed at preventing any acts of sabotage or unrest that might occur on this significant day.

The security measures began on Thursday afternoon when additional police personnel were deployed at all major entry points to the area [1][2][5]. The Ramna Division Deputy Police Commissioner, Masud Alam, stated that authorities would verify the allegations and take legal action if the individuals found guilty were identified [1].

On the eve of August 15, leaders and activists from BNP-affiliated organisations were observed holding processions and chanting slogans in the area around 11pm [6]. However, there were reports of political activity and alleged violence in the Dhanmondi 32 area on August 14. A group of people gathered at Dhanmondi 32 and beat up three individuals suspected to be Awami League activists [3]. The individuals were later handed over to the police, and three people are currently in custody following the incidents [3].

The incidents occurred between 8:30pm and 9pm on August 14 [3]. If the individuals are found to be innocent, they will be released [7]. The police have stated that they are investigating the incidents thoroughly.

On August 15, Sheikh Mujib's house at Dhanmondi 32 was reportedly vandalized and set on fire [3]. Additionally, there were protests in at least 21 districts, where symbols of the Awami League's rule were torn down. These incidents highlight the political tensions and unrest that can arise on such significant anniversaries.

The law enforcement agencies continued to monitor the situation closely, with heightened security measures to ensure public safety throughout August 15 and beyond [3][4]. The aim of the security measures was to create a peaceful and secure environment for the people to remember and honour Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

In the midst of intense politics and general news surrounding the death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, authorities stepped up security measures in Dhanmondi 32 to prevent any acts of violence or unrest, particularly on the significant day of August 15. The increased precautions included deploying additional police personnel at entry points and thoroughly investigating any reported incidents of political activity and violence, such as the vandalization and arson of Sheikh Mujib's house and protests in multiple districts.
