In the world of music, feuds and controversies are not uncommon. However, the latest episode between rap artists Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj has taken an unexpected turn, involving Minaj's family and a federal law.

On Tuesday 30 January 2024, the location of Megan Thee Stallion's mother's cemetery was leaked online, prompting the cemetery to increase security measures, according to TMZ reports. This incident, however, is not directly connected to the ongoing feud between the two artists.

The feud escalated with the release of Megan Thee Stallion's new song 'Hiss'. The song contains a lyric that seemingly references Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty. The line, "These hoes don't be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan's Law", has sparked a debate.

Megan's Law, a federal law in the US, requires authorities to make information regarding registered sex offenders available to the public. Kenneth Petty, who is now listed as a level two registered sex offender in New York, pleaded guilty to attempted rape in the first degree at the age of 16.

The reference to Megan's Law in the song has caused umbrage among some, particularly the family of Megan Kanka, whose murder in 1994 inspired the creation of the law. Richard Kanka, Megan Kanka's father, found the lyric about his daughter's law in Megan Thee Stallion's song to be disrespectful and refused to listen to the song.

The feud between the two artists has also involved Minaj's brother, Jelani Maraj, who has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for predatory sexual assault against a child. The song 'Hiss' is significant because it contains lyrics mocking Minaj’s husband, which seems to have escalated the feud and prompted Minaj to respond with a diss track titled 'Big Foot'.

The controversy surrounding the song has led to discussions about the boundaries of artistic expression and the impact of lyrics on sensitive issues. While the feud between the two artists continues, it is essential to remember that the underlying issues involve serious matters that affect real people.
