Increased financial support for anti-violence measures and prevention in Saxony - Increased funding for curbing violent activities in Saxony
In a significant step towards enhancing violence protection, the Saxon State Government has announced the allocation of an additional 29 million euros over the next two years. This funding, part of the double budget adopted in June, will be distributed across various areas such as crime prevention, criminological research, and counseling centers.
The Green Party faction in the Saxon State Parliament, led by Katja Meier, played a key role in securing these additional funds during budget negotiations. This allocation will help expand and improve the existing offer for violence protection in Saxony's major cities, including Dresden and Leipzig.
Facilities like the shelter for refugee women in Leipzig, the violence protection center in Dresden, and the offender counseling center Handschlag of the Caritas association in Chemnitz will benefit from these funds. Additionally, projects of violence protection, offender counseling, and counseling centers for victims of right-wing, racist, and anti-Semitic violence will also receive support.
The federal Violence Assistance Act, passed in 2021, requires states to have the necessary protection places and offers in place by 2027. In line with this act, the states will receive additional financial resources totaling 2.6 billion euros for the years 2027 to 2036. The federal government will also participate in financing for violence protection measures moving forward.
It is worth noting that every fourth woman experiences violence from a partner or ex-partner in her lifetime. The need for sustained support and funding for violence protection measures is crucial, particularly in light of the ongoing challenges faced by vulnerable groups such as asylum seekers and women fleeing honor-based violence.
Organizations like KOK e.V. play a crucial role in supporting victims of violence and are significant recipients of federal funding. Efforts to secure long-term funding can help ensure consistent support services for those in need.
While specific information about the impact of these funds in cities like Dresden and facilities for women in Leipzig is not yet available, the allocation is a positive step towards enhancing violence protection in Saxony. The Green Party faction in the Household and Finance Committee will continue to advocate for the safety and well-being of all citizens.

The Green Party's role in securing additional funds for violence protection in Saxony's major cities is evident, as stated in the policy-and-legislation section of general news. These funds will not only help improve existing facilities like the shelter for refugee women in Leipzig, but also support projects related to violence protection, offender counseling, and counseling centers for victims of right-wing, racist, and anti-Semitic violence (politics). This allocation is a significant step forward in light of the ongoing challenges faced by vulnerable groups, such as asylum seekers and women fleeing honor-based violence (crime-and-justice).
