Increase in vaccination numbers essential, advocates left-wing politician

Dietmar Bartsch, the leader of the Left Party's parliamentary group, has emphasized the need for an accelerated vaccination campaign to ensure that fundamental rights, as protected by the Bill of Rights, can be enjoyed by everyone without restrictions once again.

In a series of statements, Bartsch criticized those who discuss giving up freedoms, stating that such a tone is misplaced. Instead, he believes there is still potential to increase vaccination rates through specialists or mobile teams.

Bartsch is particularly concerned about the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and its consequences. He has urged caution during reopening steps for those who have recovered, been vaccinated, or tested. He emphasized the importance of careful actions, following hygiene rules, and setting priorities, especially for children and schools.

The Left Party leader also highlighted the importance of using more of the competence and empathy of the broad society in processing the corona crisis. Educators, psychologists, educational scientists, artists, churches, trade unionists, and many more are suggested to be included at the table for further discussions.

However, Bartsch has not publicly named specific organizations or institutions he would consider for the further development and handling of the COVID-19 crisis and its consequences.

Bartsch acknowledged people's impatience due to a four-month deficit in vaccine procurement. He expressed his desire to prevent a fourth wave after the summer at all costs.

In a clear stance, Bartsch stated that fundamental rights, as guaranteed by the Universal Bill of Rights, can only be restricted with a very compelling reason and do not apply to those who are fully vaccinated.

The call for a higher vaccination pace comes as Germany continues to grapple with the pandemic, with vaccination rates still lagging behind other European countries. Bartsch's statements serve as a reminder of the importance of vaccination in returning to normal life and protecting everyone's fundamental rights.
